Day 10
Abide in Me
Read: John 15-16
Then & ThereAs Jesus continues speaking with His disciples, the weight of what is coming grows heavier. He knows the sorrow they are about to face. The confusion. The scattering. The cross.
And yet, what He speaks here is not just for them.It is for all who would follow Him.
For every moment when life feels uncertain. For every season marked by tension, pruning, or loss.
He gives them this picture:“I am the vine; you are the branches.” (John 15:5)
He does not tell them to strive. He does not give them a plan to manage what’s coming. He invites them to remain. To stay connected to Him.
Because apart from Him…they can do nothing.“Abide in Me, and I in you.” (John 15:4)
He speaks of pruning - not as punishment, but as the careful work of the Father, making room for deeper life, fuller growth, lasting fruit.
He calls them friends.Reminds them they are chosen. And then He tells them the truth:They will face opposition. They will experience sorrow. They will walk through things they do not yet understand.
But they will not be alone. The Spirit will come. The Helper, the Comforter. To dwell with them and within them.
And even their sorrow will be turned into joy.Not because the path will be easy…but because He will remain with them in it.
Notice About God
God is not distant from our lives. He is the source of life.
Jesus is the vine. The Father tends and cares. The Spirit dwells within and leads us into truth. He does not ask us to produce peace, strength, or fruit on our own.He invites us to remain connected to Him.
Because He is our peace.Even in uncertainty.Even in pruning.Even in the middle of what we don’t understand.
And He has already overcome the world. Here & Now Reflection
Abiding is not something we do once.It is a returning.A remaining.A staying connected to Jesus in every season.
Where in your life do you feel tension, uncertainty, or change right now? What would it look like - not to strive for peace - but to stay connected to the One who is your peace?Prayer
Jesus, You are the true vine, and I need You.Teach me to remain in You. Not just in the quiet moments, but in the middle of everything I don’t understand.Thank You that You are my peace, not just the giver of it.Holy Spirit, help me stay connected, aware of Your presence, and anchored in Your love.I choose to abide in You.Amen.
