Day 9

At Home with Him

Read: John 14

Then & There
The room is still carrying the weight of everything Jesus has just said.
A betrayal has been set in motion.
Jesus has spoken of leaving.
The disciples don’t fully understand…
but they can feel it.
Something is shifting.
And into that uncertainty, Jesus speaks:
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.” (John 14:1)
He doesn’t explain everything.
He invites them to trust.
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places…
I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)
This is not just a promise about the future.
It is an invitation into the presence of God today.
When Thomas asks how they can know the way, Jesus responds:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
He is not just pointing to a path.
He is declaring who He is.
The only way to the Father.
The truth revealed.
The source of life itself.
Through Him, a way is made…
not by our effort,
but through His life, His sacrifice, and His victory.
And then Jesus reveals something even deeper:
“If anyone loves Me…
My Father will love them,
and We will come to them
and make Our home with them.” (John 14:23)
This is the heart of it.
The Father,
and the Son…
drawing near.
God is not distant.
He is making His home with those who love Him.
And He promises they will not be left alone.
The Helper will come…
the Holy Spirit…
to dwell with them,
within them.
“My peace I give to you…
not as the world gives.” (John 14:27)
A peace that does not come from circumstances,
but from His presence.
Notice About God
God’s desire has always been to dwell with His people.
Through Jesus,
we are brought to the Father.
Through the Spirit,
God dwells within us.
We are not reaching for Him from a distance.
We carry His presence.
Here & Now Reflection
There are moments when life feels uncertain.
When we don’t understand what God is doing…
or where things are heading.
Jesus does not always give clarity.
But He gives Himself.
“Let not your heart be troubled.” (v. 27)
Where do you feel unsettled right now?
What might it look like to become aware of His presence within you?
not distant, but near…
not visiting, but dwelling?
Because you are not alone.
You are a dwelling place.
And He is at home with you…
wherever you go.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for making a way where I could not.
Thank You that, through You, I am brought near to the Father, and filled with Your Spirit.
Help me live aware of Your presence within me,
to trust You in uncertainty,
and to rest in the peace You give.
Amen.
