Day 6
Even Now
Read: John 11
Then & ThereJesus receives word from Martha and Mary:“Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” (John 11:3)
These were not distant acquaintances. They were close to Him.Known by Him.Loved by Him.
And yet, when Jesus hears the news…He stays.
For two more days, He does not go.It’s a moment that feels confusing. If He loved them…why wouldn’t He come right away?
By the time Jesus arrives, Lazarus has already died.Martha meets Him first. She says: “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21)
It’s a statement of faith…and honest disappointment.
And yet, she continues:“But even now…” (John 11:22)
Jesus responds:“I am the resurrection and the life… Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)
Later, Mary comes, weeping.And Jesus does something unexpected.He doesn’t explain.He doesn’t correct.
He weeps.
Standing at the tomb, Jesus calls out:“Lazarus, come forth.” (John 11:43)
And life returns. Then He turns to those standing nearby and says:“Loose him, and let him go.” (John 11:44)
Notice About GodGod’s love is not absent in the waiting.Even when His timing feels confusing…even when it feels like He could have come sooner…
He is still present.Jesus is not distant from our grief. He enters it.He feels it.He weeps with us.
And He is still the resurrection and the life… even there. Here & Now ReflectionThere are moments when God’s timing doesn’t make sense. When it feels like He didn’t come when you needed Him to.When you’re left holding both faith… and questions. But Jesus meets us in that place. Not with distance. But with presence. Is there an area of your life where you’ve been waiting… or wondering?
What might it look like to trust Him? Not only in what He does, but in who He is?
Even now.PrayerJesus, thank You that Your love is present. Even when I don’t understand Your timing. In the places where I feel disappointed, confused, or still waiting… meet me there.Help me trust that You are still at work.Even now.Amen.
