Day 2

Seen and Known

Read: John 3 & 4

Then & There
In John 3, we meet Nicodemus. A religious leader, respected and knowledgeable, someone who appears to have everything in place spiritually.
He comes to Jesus at night, quietly, with questions.
Jesus speaks to him about something unexpected:
“You must be born again.”
Nicodemus struggles to understand. What Jesus is describing isn’t something outward or earned. It’s something deeper. A new life that comes from the Spirit of God.
In John 4, we meet someone very different.
A Samaritan woman.
An outsider.
Someone who carries a complicated story.
She meets Jesus in the middle of an ordinary moment. Drawing water from a well.
But this conversation becomes anything but ordinary.
Jesus sees her. He knows her story. And He offers her something she didn’t know she could receive:
living water that satisfies the deepest places within us.
And something begins to shift.
The woman who came to the well alone leaves her water jar behind and goes back to her town, telling others:
“Come and see…”
Two very different people.
Two very different encounters.
One leaves with questions still unfolding.
The other leaves ready to share what she has seen.
Notice About God
God meets people personally. Uniquely.
Nicodemus comes with knowledge and questions.
The Samaritan woman comes with need and a story.
Jesus does not approach them the same way.
He sees each person fully.
He knows their story.
And He meets them in a way they can receive.
And often, transformation begins in being seen and known.
Here & Now Reflection
Every encounter with Jesus is personal and unique.
There isn’t one right way it’s supposed to look.
Some moments may leave you with new questions to sit with.
Others may stir something in you that feels ready to share.
Where do you see yourself today?
Where might Jesus be meeting you in your questions, your story, or your longing?
And what might shift as you allow yourself to be fully seen and known by Him?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for meeting me personally and knowing my story.
You see every part of my life. My questions, my needs, and my longing for more.
Help me trust You with what You see, and receive the new life You offer.
Amen.
